How My Computer Freaked Out At Work

by Jon Pinney on October 24, 2009

This is what happened yesterday when I was working.  I was in the middle of showing one of my employees what to do on a project we were working on when my computer started thinking really slow and I got the first notification of a security risk to my computer.  Then I got another one.  That’s when I called one of my tech guys to come and look at it.  While he was trying to fix it my computer just freaked out and started going crazy.  Luckily my quick reflexes allowed me to grab my cell phone and capture the pandemonium :)   This is what my computer screen looked like.  This would be hilarious if it hadn’t been my computer and if it hadn’t kept me from working the entire day…

Wrestling in the backyard?  Sounds like a great idea.  Just make sure you remember to look out for the ladder.  Another funny thing my intern showed me…

No Fire by Jon Peter Lewis

by Jon Pinney on September 23, 2009

A friend just mentioned to me that he heard this song and it reminded him of me.  So of course I checked it out.  I was surprised to find a song that gave me the chills it was so good.  Please listen to this song.  It is amazing.

P.S. I have no idea what this video is about… I haven’t watched it, only listened.

<<Update:  this video was removed for terms of use violation… I have tried to find another video with the song but haven’t been able to yet…>>

Benton Paul At The Boardwalk In Sacramento

by Jon Pinney on September 19, 2009

Last night I went and saw Benton Paul at the Boardwalk in Sacramento (it’s actually in Orangevale or Citrus Heights…).  It was an awesome show.  He was playing with Brooke White and Michael Johns from American Idol Season 7.

Besides being one of my good friends, he is an excellent musician and songwriter.  If you’ve never heard any of his music, please take a listen to the following songs.  The first is a cover of Yellow (by Coldplay) from his live show at the E Center with David Archuletta.

This second is my favorite song of his: The Devil. If you look close in this video you might be able to see me in the third row or so. This is a live video recording from his CD release show last year. :)

After the show I took a photo with him, and then we sat down and chatted for awhile about life.

My Favorite American Idol Performance Of All Time

by Jon Pinney on September 18, 2009

One of the guys I work with just walked into the office singing “Summertime” to himself–he didn’t know I was there.  I said something to him, and that made me think of this performance, so I showed it to him.  This is by far my favorite American Idol performance of all time.  There are others that have been awesome, but this one takes it for me.

If you have a favorite American Idol performance, I wanna know what it is.  Leave a comment below.

Volleyball and Future Travels

by Jon Pinney on September 18, 2009

It is late and I need to go to bed.  I am already past midnight on a Thursday night, but just barely.  I’m going to post this and then be asleep.

Tonight I had so much fun–but it also left me exhausted.  I played volleyball for 3-4 hours straight.  It was a great workout, and I met a lot of new people and played with some friends.  I have always enjoyed playing volleyball, and I was recently introduced to two open adult volleyball nights.  One is in Roseville and the other in Antelope.  Then after that I went and played at the Church volleyball night for single adults.  The combination of the two left me starving and wanting to pass out. :)

Hopefully these volleyball nights will enter my weekly plans and give me some good help towards the six pack abs…

Here is a video that we took tonight… If you look close you can see me and Ty setting and spiking the ball into some other people’s faces… It was quite enjoyable.

On another note, I will be traveling in the not-to0-distant future.  I will be heading to Lake Tahoe for a day.  Then I’ll be heading to Chicago for a work conference.  Then I’ll be heading to New York City to help my sister move apartments.

While traveling is fun, I wish I could spread out some of these trips a little more.  Once I am back from New York City, I will be very glad. :)

Anyway, just wanted to give you an update on my life.  I am now going to bed.

New Song – The Flame

by Jon Pinney on September 15, 2009

I have been working on lyrics for a new song called “The Flame” or maybe just “Flame”.  Tonight I got the urge to write music for it.  So, for the last hour I’ve been figuring out how it goes.  Here is a sample clip (not high quality audio or video; this is me in the middle of being creative–writing music and melody)…  The song may change as I continue to work on it.

The lyrics in this portion go like this:

Walk away
Don’t stay
The flame is just a vision of what’s hurting me
I need the flame not the pain
But when I get too close you consume me
The flame is just a game that brings the pain

Sara Bareilles – Gravity and SYTYCD – Addiction

by Jon Pinney on September 14, 2009

A song I’ve been listening to lately that I just love is “Gravity” by Sara Bareilles.  I first heard this song on the TV show “So You Think You Can Dance”.  It was used in a dance choreographed by Mia Michaels between Kayla and Kupono.  It was all about addiction, and I thought it was one of the most beautiful and moving pieces of art I have ever seen.  I have included the video below to the dance and to the song.  I hope you enjoy them both.

Below is Sara Bareilles performing “Gravity” live. You can also see the music video at the following link:  Sara Bareilles Gravity Official Music Video
