Thanks for taking the time to post all of those videos, Jon! How could you not remember where you were on this day. I was arriving to work shortly after the news broke. Usually the only sound you could hear was keyboard strokes, but there were radios everywhere and headphones not being used. The whole thing was just shocking.
First thing I wanted to talk to my mom who was supposed to be taking a flight home from Utah with my grandma. They ended up renting a vehicle to drive back. It was difficult to focus on work when the whole day you are just wondering what terrible news will break next.
My brothers joined me at my parents' house that night, and we watched the news for what seemed like forever, emotions running high. Finally enough was enough. Now every time I watch Smallville, I think of 9/11 because that's how we coped. The 3 of us huddled together and focused our minds on the series premiere of Smallville as an escape.
It's amazing how watching the footage again takes you right back to your feelings of that horrific day. Makes me glad though that our country united and came out of it stronger. For a long time after, families in America had their priorities straight. Peeps can bag on Bush all they want, but for me he goes down as a hero for the way he handled all of this so early on in his presidency.
